Monument to Anatoly Bredov at the Place of His Feat

Anatoly Bredov, squad commander of a machine gunners’ company of the 155th Infantry Regiment, 14th Infantry Division, Karelian Front, committed his heroic deed on 11 October 1944. In the combat for the Roadside Mound at Lake Santa-Järvi (near the Sputnik settlement in the Pechenga District) he used his last hand grenade to blow up the Nazi soldiers around – and himself. On 24 March 1945 he was awarded a posthumous title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
