Monument to, and common grave of the soldiers of the 143rd Artillery Regiment of the 14th Infantry Division on the gun lines of the heroic Sixth Komsomol Battery

The stela is installed on the former gun line of the 6th battery. In September 1941 its artillery men were repelling the enemy’s onslaught for a week without any support from the flanks or rear. They remained alone but continued firing on the enemy. Their cannons would break down, and the soldiers were dying. On 14 September the survivors were surrounded and accepted their last fight. The dead soldiers and their commander Grigory Lysenko were buried with military honours in a common grave right on the battlefield.
